According to the news we have known so far, there is a new leak has revealed the internal aliases of Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship phones, the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The phones will bear the codenames “Cupid” and “Zeus” respectively, and “Cupid” has now been tipped to launch in November without MIUI 13 out of the box.
Xiaomi’s next major flagship phones will be the Mi 12 series, or—considering the recent change in branding—the Xiaomi 12 series. More details of the phones have now been revealed months away from launch.

According to the leaker, Xiaomi 12 will be codenamed “Cupid”, while the line-leading Xiaomi 12 Ultra will bear the internal moniker “Zeus”. Seeing as Zeus is traditionally the king of the Greek gods, that’s an ambitious codename by Xiaomi for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra—and one that shows the company’s intention to make its apex phone truly noteworthy. Both phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming 4 nm Snapdragon 898.
The previous information indicated that the Xiaomi 12 could be released in December. New reports, however, hint at a November release instead. Supposedly, a November release will see the Xiaomi 12 launch with MIUI 12.5 Enhanced out of the box, with a MIUI 13 update to follow when Xiaomi makes the next iteration of its software available.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun already confirmed a year-end debut for MIUI 13. That could imply a November or December release. As such, we’d be surprised if the Xiaomi 12 was released without MIUI 13. The Xiaomi 12 Pro and 12 Ultra will, of course, be released next year.
