The OnePlus 7 Phones Are Finally Getting Stable Android 12

At this point, OnePlus is the shell of its predecessor. Like Nokia, Blackberry, HTC, and others, there is a lot of enthusiasm about what the company used to be. According to Android Authority, the company’s classic OnePlus 7 is finally getting a stable update to Android 12.

The phone is a few years old, so it’s no surprise that it’s not the first to get the latest update. However, you can imagine people still wielding this phone getting restless. Android 13 launched recently.

Android 12 is on the OnePlus 7, here’s what’s new

For starters, the OnePlus 7’s Android 12 is based on OxygenOS 12. On the surface, there aren’t many visual differences between this version and the last. It still retains the familiar aesthetic for OnePlus users.

Users don’t get the Super Bubble Material You design language. Instead, aside from a few tweaks, the user interface is pretty much the same.

Digging deeper into the UI reveals something that some people might not like. Some aspects of the UI like the charger popup and home screen customizer are now similar to ColorOS.

When it comes to differences, more options are available when customizing the fingerprint scanner animation. There are more home screen swipe animations.

Speaking of the home screen, the shelves are no longer accessible by swiping right on the home screen. This brings up the google feed instead. You can access the shelves by swiping down on the top right corner of the screen.

While you can’t customize the theme with dynamic colors, there is a new theme store where you can buy themes to decorate your device.

Speaking of privacy, these phones now have camera and microphone indicators in the top right corner. These let you know when to use these sensors. You can now lock apps with a passcode and hide them.
