The first week of October has passed, and while we expect a slew of hardware and software launches from Apple in the coming weeks, there is no sign of any media activity.
This week also saw the launch of the iPhone 14 Plus, the last member of the iPhone 14 lineup following its launch last month. We’re also looking forward to upcoming OS updates, possibly a bug-fix iOS update, and the more important iOS 16.1 to be released alongside iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura, so keep reading for details on these stories and more!
Although many new devices are expected, this October’s Apple event is unlikely
While new iPad and Mac models are expected to be released this month, Gurman believes Apple is unlikely to hold a media event in October. “Last month’s announcement of the massive iPhone 14 could be the terms of Apple’s key presentation in 2022,” Gurman said, hinting that more new products will be announced this year through press releases, media briefings and updates to Apple’s online store.
According to Gurman, updated versions of the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini — all with M2-series chips — are “very likely to launch before the end of 2022.” He also said that an updated Apple TV with an A14 chip and extra RAM is “closer and closer, possibly coming this year.”
iOS 16.0.3 preparing
iOS 16.0.2, released last month, fixes iPhone 14 issues, excessive copy and paste permission prompts, and more. Now, there is evidence that Apple plans to release iOS 16.0.3 with additional bug fixes soon. iOS 16.0.3 is expected to fix several remaining iOS 16 bugs, including an issue with low volume when making CarPlay calls using the iPhone 14 Pro model, a text string that could crash the Mail app, and more.
