On April 29, the developer Kacper Skrzypek revealed a new feature of MIUI: memory extension.
It is reported that MIUI is testing this feature, and it has not been disclosed to the public. This feature is of great help to small memory phones.
This feature has been used on custom systems such as VIVO OriginOS and Realme UI. Taking VIVO OriginOS as an example, VIVO innovatively integrates RAM and ROM through algorithm optimization and directly calls part of the idle ROM space for RAM operation, which can effectively improve the smooth switching of multiple applications in the background.
For example, on a mobile phone with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, the memory fusion technology can make 8GB RAM equivalent to 11GB RAM, and on a 12+256GB mobile phone, it is equivalent to 15GB RAM, which further improves the running space of the mobile phone. It is conducive to more apps being started in the background, and switching back and forth is smoother.
Back to MIUI, the memory expansion tested by Xiaomi this time is expected to follow a similar principle, which will help improve the smoothness of the use of small-memory phones and is worth looking forward to.
