According to the news, the TONE FREE DFP8Ws (or FP8s) are the latest generation of LG TWS earbuds that come with their own UV-emitting charging case for an “auto-cleaning” feature. The OEM has announced pricing and availability for these allegedly bacteria-repelling accessories in the US. They will also soon be joined there by new FP9 and FP5 variants.
LG has now released the latest version of its TONE FREE TWS earbuds to the US market. These peripherals set themselves apart with the UVnano technology baked into their charging cases, which, as the OEM claims, clears up to 99.9% of all bacteria from the buds’ speaker-meshes as they power back up.
The FP8s, are also co-branded by Meridian Audio (as with their predecessors), which confers extra features such as this audio specialist’s Headphone Spatial Processing and 3D Sound Stage on the peripherals.
Each bud also has 3 mics for active noise cancellation (ANC), apparently directed at the low-frequency noises that might be more likely to get through their “medical-grade” gel ear-tips.
LG also promotes the FP8s in terms of another unusual function: Whispering Mode, which enables a user to take the right earbud out and use it as a dedicated mic during calls for enhanced privacy and clarity. It has also indicated that they have new 2021 siblings, the FP5s and FP9s, that will also become available in the US soon.
Meanwhile, the TONE FREE FP8 earbuds are to be released “soon” onto LG’s US website, at a price of US$179.99.
