Recently, the Japanese brewing company Asahi Brewing Company announced the launch of edible mugs made of potato starch and divided into different flavors such as chocolate and crispy shrimp cakes. The manufacturer claims that the cup can hold liquid at room temperature for about an hour.
Asahi Brewery said in a statement: “We propose a new way of food consumption, replacing disposable containers with ecologically clean and naturally recyclable containers.” It is reported that ten mugs are sold in sets, with a starting price of one set: 1150 yen (about 70 yuan).
