The worsening of the COVID-19 epidemic in Malaysia has led to long queues for patients diagnosed with the virus, as hospitals and isolation centers are running out of beds. In the absence of any means, the diagnosed persons must be isolated at home! The Ministry of Health has also shared the tips on its official Facebook page for those diagnosed with the disease to be isolated at home and precautions to avoid the spread of the virus.
If you or a family member is unlucky to contract the Covid-19, you must be quarantined at home. Here are six key points to note:
1. Don’t share a room with a diagnosed patient.
Everyone, please remember, don’t share a room with a diagnosed patient! It is better to assign the person that was diagnosed to the master room, which has a toilet. So the patient doesn’t need to go out of the room to the toilet. If a shared bathroom is necessary, it must be cleaned and disinfected after each use, including door handles, faucets, and other objects that have been touched. The confirmed person’s food and personal effects can’t be shared, this is the point that everyone must pay attention to!
2. Those who are diagnosed are not allowed to go out.
The diagnosed patients must stay in their room. Don’t go out and make sure your family can contact you at all times. Besides, minimize face-to-face interactions with outsiders. If it can’t be avoided, make sure both wear masks to reduce the chance of transmission of the virus.
3. Use MySejahtera to observe symptoms on your own every day.
Those diagnosed persons must use Mysejahtera every day to observe symptoms on their own or report their condition to the appropriate person. If the symptoms worsen, call 999 or go directly to a nearby hospital for help.
4. Often wash your hands and disinfect.
The person who is diagnosed or family members must wash their hands diligently and disinfect with soap or hand sanitizer, it’s a procedure that needs to be repeated every day. Remember to wear masks at all times and keep a safe distance of 1 to 2 meters between people.
5. Good health habits must be cultivated.
Everyone must learn to cultivate good health habits and practice the correct way of coughing and sneezing. Every time you cough and sneeze, you must cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper. This is to prevent germs from spreading everywhere. Besides, the paper towels and masks we use every day must be tied and thrown into the trash, and then our hands must be washed and disinfected.
6. Improve your daily habits.
Cutlery must be washed before use. The food or articles of the diagnosed people can only be left outside the door to let them get by themselves. Visitors are not allowed during the quarantine period. You must open the windows of your home and ensure that the premises are well ventilated. When handling items used by the person with the diagnosis, remember to wear gloves and promptly disinfect and keep them clean.
Don’t panic too much if you know that you are diagnosed. Follow the steps provided by the Ministry of Health to isolate yourself at home, take good care of your health and mood, and you will get well soon.
