As of now, the iPad is still the “king of the tablet.” In the second quarter, Apple sold 12.9 million iPads, more than Samsung and Amazon combined.
The latest report released by the authoritative market research agency IDC shows that Apple shipped 12.9 million iPads in the second quarter of 2021.
In contrast, Samsung and Amazon shipped 12.3 million tablets in the quarter.
It should be noted that Apple officially does not disclose the specific sales of iPad, this data is IDC based on the iPad’s quarterly revenue estimates.
Lenovo sold 4.7 million tablets this quarter, with a market share of 11.6%, ranking third with a year-on-year increase of 64.5%.
Troubled by the lack of chips, Huawei ranked fifth with 2.1 million units, with a market share of 5.1%, down 53.7% from the same period last year.
It is believed that the launch of the new iPad Pro equipped with M1 chip and mini-LED display on the 12.9-inch model may also boost sales this quarter.
The data released by Strategy Analytics, another well-known data analysis organization, is slightly different from IDC, but the ranking is consistent.
The report shows that in the second quarter of 2021, the global tablet market achieved growth for the fifth consecutive quarter, with a total shipment of 45.2 million units.
Among the major manufacturers, Lenovo has seen the strongest growth, with shipments reaching 4.7 million units, an increase of 67% year-on-year, and its market share rose to 10%, ranking third.
