Xiaomi’s new folding mobile phone patent exposure: full of MIX Alpha taste

In March of this year, at Xiaomi’s spring new product launch conference, Xiaomi’s first folding screen mobile phone, MIX FLOD, was officially released. As one of the few manufacturers to launch a folding screen mobile phone, Xiaomi will release more folding screen mobile phones in the future.

According to LetsGoDigital, Xiaomi expects to launch at least one or two folding screen smartphones before the end of the year. In addition, it also exposed a patent for the appearance of a new folding screen mobile phone applied by Xiaomi.

LetsGoDigital pointed out that after the launch of its first folding screen mobile phone MIX FLOD at the Xiaomi spring new product launch in March this year, Xiaomi will continue to launch one or two iterative products this year.

Previously, LetsGoDigital exposed a patent for the appearance of a Xiaomi mobile phone that uses an up and down folding scheme similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The shape looks like a classic clamshell model, the screen form is a double-hole design, and three cameras are installed on the rear.

Now, LetsGoDigital has exposed an iterative product patent that seems to be Xiaomi’s folding screen mobile phone MIX FLOD. The patent also uses an internal folding solution, but it seems to have a taste of Xiaomi’s surround screen concept phone MIX Alpha.

It is reported that Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. applied to the National Intellectual Property Administration, PRC (CNIPA) on February 24, 2020, and officially obtained the patent authorization on July 6, 2021.

From the perspective of the patent picture, this patent uses the same internal folding scheme as the Xiaomi MIX FLOD, but there are many differences. There is a huge bezel on the left and physical buttons are also designed, which is similar to Huawei Mate Xs.

In addition, the upper screen also uses a design similar to that of Xiaomi’s surround screen concept phone MIX Alpha. The body is surrounded by a whole screen and extends to the hinge.

At present, it is not clear whether the patent can be used for mass production. However, there is news that Xiaomi will launch a new folding screen mobile phone in the fourth quarter of this year, let us wait and see.
